Photo of the Week
October 15, 2017

This week's photos were sent in by CZ Images contributor Peggy Huff.  This is a historical pair of photos that were taken just days apart back in 1999.  Peggy writes in her email:

"My daughter and I were out taking photos of her old high school haunts before her class reunion in 1999. The February 14th one is quite possibly the last photo of the building before the fire on the 18th."

The Balboa Yacht Club and American Legion building was a famous icon in the Canal Zone for many years.  The building was originally built as a Navy Officers' Club at Fort Amador and housed the Yacht Club and Pacific Sailfish Club when it was transferred to the Yacht Club in 1946.  Read an article about the old building in the August 1954 copy of the Panama Canal Review (click here)

All that is left today are our memories, good eats and good times we had in that old building.

Thank you Peggy for sending these in.
