Photo of the Week
August 7, 2011

Another
great photo from the Fred and Lilian Ramsey collection that was sent to me by Richard Crowe who is Fred Ramsey's Great Nephew.

I just had to post this photo this week's photo.  I ran across this one in a sub folder in the collection.  On the back of the photo it references  that this is a "Charity Baseball" game.  It doesn't say which town the stadium is in, but I would have to guess Empire as I have seen other photos of the Empire stadium and with the large building behind the grandstands.  There is quite a crowd in attendance this day to watch these guys clown around.  From what I gathered from other notes, the players have some the higher ranking military and ICC employees on this team.  When I zoom in on the original scan I see two different team jerseys.  One I can not read all the name, but the other has ICC on the front.  Looks like the guys borrowed the fine ladies in grandstands umbrellas.  Some of the men are holding folding hand fans and one guy has a pistol on his hip (hmmm...)  There is a man about  eight or nine guys from the left holding a large book open and a little guy in the middle front with a Mascot uniform on.

Looks like those in the Canal Zone back in 1905 had just as much fun as we all did.

Many more great photos coming in the weeks ahead.
