Photo of the Week
July 19, 2026

Something different this week and something I have never seen before.  I picked up this relic at the Panama Canal Society Reunion last week.  I wasn't one to frequent areas where CZ Customs were, but maybe the commissary in Gamboa, and I never saw these at the airport.  They had customs officers on the piers and could be from there.  There are miscellanous rubber stamps in Spanish and mostly dated 1978, just after treaty implementation.  This relic is made of a thick card board and is the size of a mouse pad.  I don't think it is a mouse pad, but a form of transmittal for those needing to get cleared through customs, either Panama or Canal Zone.  Canal Zone Customs was no longer in service in 1978 or in transition. Whatever it is, it is a long lost part of Canal Zone history.  If there is anyone out there that has information about this plaque, drop me a line.

I have a new email :  liam-mac@czimages.com
