Photo of the Week

I came across the above photo the other day and was in awe at what I was looking at. This is the Master Builder's Office in the town of Culebra after a blast of dynamite down in the Culebra Cut. There was blasting everyday trying to conquer the rock of the Continental Divide and Culebra Cut. Imagine working and living in that those areas along the diggings. Buildings were in shambles after it was all over. Check out the ceiling. There were no fancy ceiling lights in those days and the light bulbs hung from the ceiling with a wire. Pieces of ceiling boards rained down on the desks. What a great life being a digger of the Panama Canal. I have posted a photo below showing how close the buildings were to the diggings.
