Photo of the Week
October 7, 2024

I have been out of the loop again for the last month and didn't get any chance of posting the weekly photo.  My leg vein doctor doesn't want me sitting at my desk so much.  I have had four weeks of procedures (3 a week) with hopes I can gain full use of my legs again.  Damn....this getting old is no bueno.

I was going through some of my digital photos that was taken my Warren H. Smith, who was the Chief Safety Officer for the Canal Zone Governor back in the 50s thru 70s.  This one is a one of a kind showing one of the Panama Railroad's ALCO RS1 diesel electric locatives.  This is the 903.  They had three of these, the 901, 902 and 903. She sure looks nice all cleaned up and well kept.  This photo shows it getting prepped for it's usual run to Cristobal and back hauling passenger cars or freight.  The guy on top is filling what I believe is water into somewhere in engine compartment.  The water tower was next to the Balboa Round House and probably serviced locomotives for years including the steam locomotives back in the day.

Please pray for all those affected by Hurricane Helene and now Hurricane Milton, Cat.5 coming here to Florida on Wednesday.  Please pray hard!!!  Over 200 dead.

Thank you and hope to be back next week with another photo.
