This view is also taken from a helicopter coming in from Limon Bay and the Caribbean Sea coast traveling due south. The white lighthouse in the center lower picture is the "Toro Point" lighthouse. This lighthouse was built by the French during the French effort to construct a canal. The road passing by the lighthouse is the beginning of the breakwater that protects Limon Bay from the rough Caribbean Sea. The Fort Sherman Lagoon in the center of the picture has been used for training for many years. I used to spend many a night fishing off the large cement dock sticking out in the the lagoon. Good times. |
