really enjoyed your web site, I was stationed at Ft. Amador for 19 months in 1965-1967. Hard to explain to someone who was never their how the CZ gets in your blood even for this short time . Keep up the good work
Bill - Great website. Sluffing off at home and was surfing through a bunch of old CZ websites. Love the pics of Gatun. See you this summer!
Served in the 475th Trans Co. Ft. Clayton 78-80. Live and played in the Zone Till 82 Loved it and Miss it!!
Nice and huge site ! very impressive. I'm making some research on the west indians workers on the canal. I'm searching for documents about the day to day life... if someone can help me... thx
I have some pictures (slides) of the Corozal Xmiter site around 1964-66 when I was stationed there. I started out at Quarry Heights "The Hill" Do you have pictures of that? I do not. Transferred to Ft. Clayton just across the theater parking lot. I was in CZ for 2 1/2 years. See my URL for more info. 73 //... Joe
This was an amazing and inspiring site. I had to do a project on a Spanish speaking country for a class in college and ran across your site by happenstance. Thank you for the insights into the culture and beauty of the people and all that Panama has to offer. I will recommend this to my class tomorrow! Gracias!
I could not believe the incredible, wonderful old photos of Gatun!! I always knew about the old clubhouse and where it had been but never seen a photo. Much less, all the buildings around it! I lived right up the street (in a "new" cottage) from the Dispensary and went there many times with my Mom, and visited Dr. Vestal Morris' dental chair in that building more times than I care to remember! Such a treat! Thank you so much - I find my mind returning to those streets and hills every night before I drift off to sleep.
WOW!! Your site brings back alot of memories. I was stationed there 83-85 with the 475th Trans. Co. -- redesignated as 193rd Support in 84.
Sure would like to see some photos of Quarry Heights... Was stationed there in 60-62.. Wonderful place.. Your photos of the CZ are great.. takes me back the my youth..
