Excellent, It was a real pleasure to read thru the articles. Thankyou. Jerry Blumberg Curundu native BHS Class of 1973
I've heard about your site and have just gotten around to viewing it. It is fantastic and very informative
Great web-site. Brings back many memories. Love to hear from former "Zonians"
My first visit, and after I review it all I will be pleased to comment. So far it looks great.

Very nice page. I'm not really a Zonian (I was there from 1995-1998, BHS Class of 98) but I have a strong affection for the place. Its good to see pictures of the old Zone too! Keep up the good work!

Hi to you Uncle Meat and all other fellow Zonies,
Just thought I would drop a quick line to say that the tensions are building here in Pensacola with the Vose family as time grows shorter to D-Day (turn over). It seems that the new '99 Panama license plates have a Canal Zone hue to them. We all held our vigil for the great loss of the Balboa Yaght Club, but maybe in time Panama Will build a better, more stable one. The whole idea seems in my eyes to be a prime example of what is to come of the rest of the possessions. Looking forward to the slide shows Bill. Well I guess thats all for now. Keep safe and God bless. Kevin Vose
Born in coco solo raised in balboa, Morgan ave/las cruces str still love panama
great web site sorry i've been away i know i've missed some great pictures rio mar beach beautiful yes i can smell the salt air wish i were there
Bill,
Good shots of Gamboa coming your way. CNN (Jeff) got the VIP tour of the place and had the dig cam along. He was impressed with the way that they are trying to preserve the place as "we knew it" and not just tearing it down. The old clubhouse is gone but that had happened before the resort. Seems like these "tree huggers" want to preserve some of the "old ambience" of the Ridge.
Stay tuned, Mike
Although I'm not a 'zonian' per-say, I did spend the better part of my 19 years there. Of all the places my family was ever sent, we were in Panama the longest. I became an adult there and Panama is home to me and always will be. I graduated fom Balboa last year and will probably never be able to pull my self away from the connection(s) I made back home.
Great site! Nice pics, make me home sick :( Balboa 1969-1982 loved every minute.
What an enjoyable website. You do not know how many times I have hit the web to get information about Panama, the canal, the cayuco race, etc. My Iowa students can not fathom a race from one ocean to the other ocean! Thanks for the information. I do wish I was there for this year's cayuco race. It does look like the USUAL fun!
Thanks for the memories!

Bill, I enjoyed your website, especially the old photos of Ft. Davis. There is a lot of history about the defense of the canal that has not been told. I grew up on the Pacific side and lived in Curundu and for a short time in Ft. Kobbe. Growing up in the CZ is an experience that I wouldn't trade for the world...some of the happiest years of my life. I went back to Panama this past Xmas after being gone for many years and had a wonderful time. Things sure have changed in the CZ, but Panama was great. I can't wait to go back again soon.
