Loved the website. My dad was stationed at Albrook AFB from 1957-1961 which covered the 4th through 7th grades for me. Many, many great memories from the really good years of the Panama Canal Zone. I am taken back to that time whenever I bite into a still green mango.

Very nice site

Really enjoyed the site. Was in the army ,Atlantic side, Ft Gulick and Ft Sherman. Our house was at France Field adjacent to Coco Solo . Was there Jan 66-May 68. Also returned to Panama twice in 1995 for short trips on the pacific side. KZ5GN

Just happened across your excellent web site.  Picture of week was interesting as unit pictured was obviously at Ft. Davis.  I arrived at Ft. Davis in Aug. of 1951 with the 370th Engr. Boat and Shore Regt. later changed to 370th Engr. Amphibious Support Regt.  I was 1st Sgt of Dog Co. Shore Bn, a recalled reservist, and returned to Z.I. in May of 1952.

Our Boat Bn. was stationed at Ft. Sherman.  The Boat Bn. joined us later in 1951 as they had been operating in Greenland on "Operation Bluejay",  the construction of a military base on the island.

From time we arrived until departure we wore the "Seahorse" shoulder patch denoting Amphibious Engineers.  Other units wore the traditional Caribbean patch.  This was, perhaps, changed later.  Our Bn. Cmdr. was a Major Mitchell and Regt. Cmdr. was Col. Alexander.

Enjoying your site.  Keep up nice work.
