I can finally show my husband where I grew up!! I lived in the duplex shown in the Williamson St./Red stairs picture. I left when I was 12 but I will always be proud to call myself a zonian.
I enjoyed the photographs very much; especially the pictures of Gamboa where we lived in the 70's. I had always heard about the Gamboa club house but had never seen a picture of it until now. Thanks
I served with the Army of the United States during the years 1955 to 1958. From 1956 to 1958 I was stationed at Ft. Clayton. Your Web site has refreshed my memory about my time there. It was a great time and a great place. I met so many nice people there, Military, Zonians, Panamians alike. During those years I worked part time at the Ft. Clayton Theater as usher and cashier. It was managed by a great old soldier, M/Sgt Owen J. Sullivan.
I'm a novelist (DROP-OFF, BIG FISH, DROWNED MAN'S KEY) looking for some help with a novel set in Panama circa 1961. Two questions in mind right now: If a sailor at Rodman were hauled off to the nearest CZ police station, what would've been the route and what would it have looked like back then? Also, anything especially unusual or unique about Panamanian funerals?
I am trying to get in contact with ex-Balboa High School. I am trying to get in touch with Joyce Brown, Patty Smith, Gisela Rogers.
Dear Sir, I have enjoyed your website so much! My Dad was stationed in the CZ and we lived in Far Fan from 1952 to 1954! What a wonder filled place it was for all of us. Thank you D.Burns,Jr
Love your site. Born in Gorgas, lived in the Zone until 1968 when my Dad was transferred. Returned in 1973-1975 to attend CZ College. Carlos Herrera
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR PHOTOS. I WAS BORN IN COCO SOLO, PANAMA. HOWEVER, THAT'S ALL I KNOW. I AM TRYING TO RESEARCH THE CITY MORE FOR AREA HOSPITAL RECORDS THAT MIGHT HAVE MY INFO. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS? THANKS, LAURA P.S. THE PANAMA CHRISTMAS TREE IS MY FAVORITE PHOTO.
HELLO: I really enjoyed your site, since it brought back both pleasant and unpleasant memories of my homeland. I am a teacher and had being looking for a site that I could refer my students to. I am interested in acquiring slides for my Spanish classes. Please let me know if you'll be interested in selling. Thank you again. I hope to hear from you soon. Attentively, Evelia Young
Hello! I am providing a Cedula and Passport service in Panama. If you were born in Panama, the Zone or had a parent who was Panamanian please email us. We will do all the beaurocratic legwork and most likely you will just have to fly down and pick up your cedula and passport. We will respond on a case by case basis. Regards, Sam ptyservices@terra.com
Very good photos of the past. It would be nice to put them in form of an album with an index as to the different parts of CZ or different decades or different departments. Great collection
