The reason that I am writing is that I am interested in finding the list of the men that helped the building of the Panama Canal I was told that my grand father, Henry W. Guinup had worked on the canal.. He never returned to his family and was told that he died there... He was married to Mary Moses, Guinup, had 4 small children in New York... If there is a list of the men that worked and died while the building was going on,,, I would like to have that information....Henry was born around 1865 and last lived in NY when he disappeared??? Any information that you may be able to contribute would be greatly appreciated... Thank you
Hi Bill- from a Zonian in NY. The statement on the 1st.page "In Perpetuity" says it all for any one of us who are from the Canal Zone.My family and I spent today-Dec.14-sharing many memories of a place that was a special part of so many lives. My parents were in the service, returned as civilians & raised a family in the Zone. We have a home still full of wonderful pictures and artifacts from Panama and the Zone. Via con Dios and Feliz Navidad!
Go to URL and all basic info of me will be there!
I am really using my page as a follow up part of my Boss' Page: ParadisePuertoRico, since I have an arrangement with him to translate and manage anything in English that enters his page; that's my key job, Bi-lingual translator; so happens he and I are brothers in Christ, members of same church!

due to the nature of this guest book, I must inform that i am filling it out in my Boss' name, for I do direct translations and management of ALL his mail, letters, etc. that come into HIS computer which is my DeskTop Work Site here at Hospicio la Paz in Puerto Rico; I am a former Zonian from Paraiso Jr.Sr. High School; hope my name is still on the bust of the winners of the John Phillip Souza Band Award; I won the first placement and scholarship when that Award arrived in the Canal Zone at our school. In Spanish, they call me Eduardo Jose Maynard; in Brazilian that would be Maynardes....(smile); Thanks for letting me register
Looking for STEVE CASTILLO...BHS 77. Owned horses at Howard AFB Riding Club during early-to-mid 70s. Father was US Navy civilian employee stationed at Rodman Navy Base. Lived at Farfan. Last known location Charleston SC, working in a restaurant...approximately 5-6 years ago. Please help if you can....I've been looking for Steve for years. Thank you.
Bill - great site and great photos. Remember when I showed you my Olympus Pen FT (1/2 frame SLR) & you went and got one in '73? No doubt many of these photos were taken with it... Stanley
Wonderful site! Always something to learn. Panama is indeed a special place in my heart. Though I had only a few opportunities to spend time there, I fell in love with it. The Canal remains (still) a huge technological and human accomplishment. Having spent many hours in the air viewing the "Canal", the sights never failed to both excite the imagination as well as produce a continued awe. Having flown the early morning assaults to liberate Panama from Noriega during "Just Cause" only seemed to bond me more closely to this unique place.
How are you doing? Just checking out some of your Christmas pics on Christmas Morning. Nice WEB site. Where are the MSA Carnival Pictures??? We were back in Panama last March for Spring Break. What a change. We'll probably continue to visit the boy's relatives every other year or so.
