The Annual Panama Canal Explorer Scouts
Ocean to Ocean Cayuco Race

In 1983 my wife Margaret decided to get involved in the Annual Cayuco Race . A group of gals were offered an old log called the "Slave Galley". It was in pretty bad shape. Us guys were in charge of the restoration of the old stump. After restoration, we had a good time, the girls had a good race, and the "Slave Galley" finished 3rd in the Patch Boat category. Patch boats are allowed into the Cayuco Race as a fun boat. They only compete for a patch. The Trophy Boats are only four person teams. Men, women or Coed. The Trophy Boats are smaller and faster. They compete for a really big Trophy. Here are some photos for your enjoyment.
