I was thrilled to find the home page. I'm a class of 1968 grad who has contact with only one other grad besides my sister. I really miss the days spent at BHS. The home page is a great idea. Thanks for my second look at the school in over 30 years. I was just telling someone about Sra. DeArmas and how much she "loved" the students at Balboa.

Continue to enjoy checking the guest book from time to time, Bill. As always, thank you for giving us this "gift" of your time and effort. I will look for Class of 70 faces in the crowd on the BHS lawn next Saturday, May 15th. It will definitely be quite an event -- as I understand it, they expect around 4,000 people to be there! The clock is really "ticking" now and the reality of Treaty Implementation more evident with each passing day. Those who find their way here next week and beyond will be startled by the changes yet they will certainly recognize the many things that haven't, or can't be, changed. It is definitely becoming a nostalgia-charged time for those of us who are still here as we watch houses empty, see moving vans everywhere and learn that people have left before having a chance to tell them good-bye. Just a reminder that the class of 70 will hold their annual happy hour at this year's reunion on Friday, July 2 at 3:00 p.m. in the Pagoda Bar. Nancy, thanks for your kind offer to assist class of 70 members at the upcoming graduation. Jacque will be there but I could not bring myself to attend-would prefer to remember the happy times. Besides, I'm not sure the old CZ could handle both Jacque & I walking down memory lane!
Just wanted to Congratulate the Class of 99. I hope in 28 years, they can look back on their time at "Our" school with memories as sweet.
Congratulations to the Class of 1999. Wish I could have been there. Can't make it this year to reunion in Orlando but I will definitely be there next year for the 30th Reunion.
I think it is great. I did not attend the High School, however, I attended Balboa Ele. Diablo Ele and Corundu Jr. High. (I think I remembered how to spell the name of the Jr. High.) I left the Canal Zone in 1969 for Stateside. I would like to try to find any of my friends that I went to school with. Haven't had any luck. Thought maybe some of your classmates might have had younger sisters or brothers who I might have gone to school with. I lived on Albrook AFB. Thanks for having this site. kfinch@vicksburg.com
We had a blast! My sistahs and I scatterd my mother's ashes around bush infront of the Balboa Union Church. Thanks Pastor Bob! We shopped until we dropped in Panama. We hired a taxi for the morning...Manuel was a great guy and said we were his tres esposas and keep a watchful eye on us and worried when one of us disappeared from his sight...hit the hock shops...got a great pair of earrings! We loaded up the car with a cooler and Balboa, Panama and Atlas beer and we accompanied Barb Greene (class of 73) out to Gamboa to scatter Bebe Nehring's dad's ashes off the floating crane the Hercules. Barb has such a nice brother. There was a ship getting ready to pass the crane so Carl would have been churnned up a little on his passage through the canal. Edna (adopted sistah) was a little amazed that we would even truck around Panama with ashes in the car...we had to reassure her that we would not leave her in the hot car when her time came...unless we had to fill up a cooler! Then we went to Karl Morole's house for some Coast to Coast Harley T-shirts.
Barb took me to get a weenie....man oh man...it was hot and long!! I have lasting memories of those special 20 minutes...Thanks Barb! She da man!!
Hmm, the story about the insulting Pastor Bob....well....another time...Pam can tell that story.
I took the class of 70 sign from graduation and passed it on to Cliff Day. He is to bring it to our class reunion next year. I didn't want to deal with traveling with it! Graduation was nice....altho I think NAMING of the returning alumni took too long and took away from the current graduates. I heard that the principal told the grads that they had to behave for graduation and not to show up drunk...he was going to have enough troubles from the returning alumni. Bon bon forgot to mention the medallion that was passed out along with the certificates. There was not enough of them to go around....our class was shorted. I spent time with my class of 1970...Robin Patton...still beautiful, Margorie Tilley, Cliff Day, Art Mokray (thanks for the beers Art!!), Hal White (he was the class rep..), Tomas Carey (thanks for not posting THAT pic Tom), June Scigliane, Ed Sykes, Janet King, Francis Kerr, Donella Maclean, Barbara Rhyne & Ed Standford were a no show...they were having a yard sale, and Patti Thompson Plucker was there (it was good to hug her neck)
WE hitched a ride with the class of 74 to the brunch at Fort Clayton....what a long line for food but there was champagne that Pammy enjoyed. Here is where the story starts for insulting the pastor...Pammy can share that later.
Got to get back to work....more stories later....hehehe

Be moving to Puerto Rico 3 June 99, new address above. Congratulations, everytime I read the Home page is outstanding. Participated in the last Balboa High school graduation, it was very emotional.

This is a really, really wonderful sight. I have had so much fun that I am sure I will be fired for the time I have spent looking through my past. It has been great to see all of the names and run home to pull out the old yearbook - Bill has done a truly magnifcent job on the whole CZImages....I hope we can all connect for the 30th... I joined the Pan Canal Society of Florida so that I don't ever miss anything again....I have certainly missed all of you.
